Commenting on a recent wiretapping scandal allegedly involving the General Staff, Transportation Minister Binali Yıldırım said any institution other than those authorized to do so have acted against the law if they have wiretapped phones.

  Holidaymakers cut vacations short, return home for referendum [ Domestic ]
 
Turkish voters have decided to return to their places of residence from summer vacations and the Eid al-Fitr holiday -- a three-day religious holiday that marks the end of the month of Ramadan -- earlier than in past years in order to vote in the upcoming public referendum on the constitutional amendment package. Others have cancelled plans to visit their loved ones in far-away cities during Eid in order not to miss the referendum.

  Turkish expats flock to homeland for referendum [ Domestic ]
 
Turkish citizens living abroad are visiting Turkey in order to cast their votes in the Sept. 12 public referendum on the constitutional amendment package. Expats who spoke to Today’s Zaman expressed belief that the planned amendments to the Constitution are of great importance to Turkey’s future.
